What do people think
about Nissan Pathfinder ?
I have not spent any money on this vehicle except for tires and oil changes. The car is so reliable, it is scary. The car is actually built out of steal and not aluminum or plastic. The newer models starting I think from 1999 and up are built out of cheap aluminum and if you touch them wrong, they dent.
My mom owned this car before me and took good...

All-new Nissan Pathfinder unveiled

Nissan Pathfinder
SALEH Al Hamad Al Mana Company launched the all-new Nissan Pathfinder 2006, the third generation version of the popular sport utility vehicle (SUV), at a glittering ceremony at the Ritz yesterday.

A large gathering, including senior officials and prominent personalities, were hosted by Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Company chairman and managing director Hisham Saleh al-Mana, and Nissan Middle East FZE managing director Toru Hasegawa.

“The new Pathfinder is bigger, bolder and better with a spacious interior, three-row seating and powerful 4-litre V6 engine,†Hasegawa, visiting Qatar for the first time, told a pre-launch press conference.

Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Company general manager Abdul Wahab Itani, national sales manager G V K Prasad, and Nissan Middle East FZE’s general manager (sales and market management) Kazutaka Nambu were also present on the occasion.

Delivering 291 horsepower and 47.1kg-m of torque, the new Pathfinder is designed to offer the best balance in its segment of off-road capabilities and on-road utility.

The 2006 Pathfinder’s performance credentials include its rugged, fully boxed all-steel frame, independent double-wishbone front and rear suspension, and a standard 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission featuring a “super wide†gear ratio for good acceleration, with a Direct Control System helping to provide smooth shift quality.

The addition of the third row seat gives the Pathfinder seven-passenger seating, along with outstanding passenger/cargo flexibility.

“The split fold-down second and third row seats can be folded down individually, combining with the fold-down front passenger seat to provide up to 64 different seating/cargo configurations,†explained Itani.

The second row seat, for example, features a 40/20/40 split feature with a one-touch release lever for easy access to the third row.

The 50/50 split third row seat folds down into the floor, allowing complete passenger/cargo use spontaneity, and the adjustable head restraints (second and third rows) do not need to be removed to fold down the seats.

Advanced safety technology features include Zone Body Construction with front and rear crumple zones, Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System (AABS), and available roof-mounted supplemental curtain air bags for side impact and rollover protection to outboard passengers in all three rows, Prasad said.

The dual zone auto front A/C and independent rear AC is one from the long list of available comfort and convenience features that continues Pathfinder’s longstanding reputation for attention to driver and passenger needs.

Another feature of the new Pathfinder’s interior is the hidden storage area located under the second row seats, one of many areas designed to help hold the accessories of an active lifestyle.

The new Nissan Pathfinder, sold in over 150 countries, is available in the GCC region in four grades (XE, SE, SE+ and LE trim levels), with prices ranging from QR100,000 to QR125,000.

Highlights of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder’s larger body include active, rugged exterior design, short front and rear overhangs, integrated front bumper, aggressive geometric fenders, angled strut-style grille, C-pillars with Nissan SUV signature high-mounted rear door handles, highly functional roof rack, and side running boards.

The all-new Pathfinder combines rugged body-on-frame construction with the superior ride and handling characteristics of four-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension.

Utilising the “F-Alpha†platform as a basis, the Pathfinder builds from a fully boxed, all-steel ladder frame and adds an all-steel double-wishbone front suspension with coil-over shocks and stabiliser bar.

At the rear, an independent rear double-wishbone suspension design with the coils located on the toe control link (offset spring and shock) with stabiliser bar improves ride quality and optimises handling, especially on rough road terrain.

Shift-on-the-fly electronically-controlled part-time four-wheel drive system with dash mounted switch operation, power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, 16-inch aluminium-alloy wheels (SE and SE+ grades), 17-inch aluminium-alloy wheels (LE grade), and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with standard Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) are among the features.

The interior features include large centre console, leather-appointed, power memory seats, power-adjustable foot pedals, 6CD auto-changer, and choice of chrome/wood-toned interior.

The new Nissan Pathfinder being marketed in the GCC countries have more than 99 unique parts to adapt it to the region’s demanding conditions and are assembled by Nissan North America’s Smyrna œNissan, which offers the largest SUV line up in the region, has a vehicle to match the lifestyle of every customers’ individual needs,†pointed out Hasegawa.

The full size Armada, the Patrol, the Murano, and the X-Trail are the other members of the Nissan SUV family.

The new Pathfinder features a longer wheelbase (2,850mm) for enhanced roominess, ride comfort and stability, while its manageable overall length (4,775mm) and short front and rear overhangs enhance manoeuvrability for around town or driving on off-road trails.

The new engine is part of Nissan’s award-winning VQ engine series found in the 350Z, Maxima, Altima and Murano. The engine features a longer stroke than the 3.5-litre version (92.0mm versus 81.4mm) and has been specifically tuned for SUV and truck applications.

Like others in the VQ series, the new 4-litre version includes advanced design features as Electronic Throttle Control with secondary mapping in 4LO, Continuous Valve Timing Control (C-VTC), Nissan variable Induction Control System (NICS), silent timing chain, microfinished camshaft and crankshaft surfaces, molybdenum-coated pistons, resin intake manifold, digital knock control system, high capacity muffler, lightweight aluminum block and platinum-tipped spark plugs.

Nissan Middle East FZE managing director recalled that Nissan has achieved every single commitment made public since October 1999, with the last and most challenging one being 1mn additional sales under the Nissan 180 plan.

“During the three-year Nissan Value-Up period, kicked off in April 2005, we plan to introduce 19 new models to the region, and aim for new car retail sales of over 140,000 units by fiscal year 2008,†he added.
